Rachna, The English Language teacher's opinion after observation:
All children are born special. Human beings are blessed with a brain which thinks to unlimited. The need is , the MIRROR ( teacher, trainer, instructor, parents etc) who could reflect the ability or the abilities of a child as all the required potentials are within .
1. Why the academic performance goes down?
Reasons may be several including the child's family-influence, But here the responsibility of a teacher grows.......How! Let me make it clear . School is the temple of education and teachers are God for Students. If a child feels a teacher as God, all expectations grow from a teacher. A teacher should be connected with all students to solve each and every problem in a child's life by teaching how to fish instead of giving fish. Problems related to family and friends should be solved on the basis of morality building and skill developing by twisting the problems towards positivism. Now comes the school and peers and the academic problems. Motivation and inspiring , interaction and counselling resulting solution giving and the most important GAP-FILLING are the tools to be adopted or must be adopted by a teacher to solve a student's problem.
2. What is GAP-FILLING?
In the class ,the main reason for the mind distraction is the only one i.e. lack of interest. Now, the interest goes low when a child is unable to understand the concept. The reason for not understanding the concept is missing of SOMETHING while learning . A teacher should be capable enough to know who exactly the child is and where the child has missed the thing in the previous class . By devoting a little bit time a teacher can tactfully pick the child from the place she /he has missed the flow and update with the current teaching - learning process in the current class.
I know, all the above are very common and simple but I also know if we (teachers) religiously follow the above we can definitely achieve our goal......................
